So, you have chosen your preferred college course, but which college should you attend? Here are some tips we've compiled to help you with your decision.

1. Calculate your budget

There are many options for college. If you opt for courses like STPM, STAM and Matrikulasi, your total expenses will be around RM 1000 for your textbooks, living costs and other external fees. However, for those who prefer to take their programme at local public and private institutions, the total costs can range from RM 15k to RM 90k. Hence, it is important to communicate with your parents or whoever that will be funding your education when selecting your college of choice.

2. Check the qualification of the college

It is important that your course of choice has obtained accreditation by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA). This will certify that the course has attained the quality standards set by MQA and is in compliance with the Malaysian Qualifications framework. Do note that if your pre-university course is not certified by MQA, your university might not acknowledge your certificate upon application and admission.

3. Logistics

Traffic and transportation problems can be a real killer when you are rushing to get to college in the morning. It is advisable to find a college that is nearby public transport systems (MRT, LRT, Monorel, KTM) as their schedules are usually fixed and not dependent on road traffic. You might also want to opt for colleges near your housing area so it is easier for you to get home to grab your forgotten assignments, and it saves a lot of petrol costs too!
